On the 29th August my cousins and I were driving (well, actually dad was the only one who was driving, I haven't got a driving license) past a hill on our way to Helmsley, with a white horse on it. "Guess what the White Horse is made from?" Dad asked us.
"Chalk,"
"Stone."
These were my cousin Emily's and my guesses. "You're both right" replied Dad. "Chalk is a type of stone, and the White Horse is made of Chalk."
"Wow," I murmured, "it looks wonderful."

Wow, Mel! I think your writing is getting better and better. In this case the conversation really brings the piece to life. Do you think unexpected things like the white horse are more memorable than the things you are expecting?
ReplyDeleteDo you think your brain gets into the habit of writing in the mornings? I know mine does; when I wake up I lie in bed forming sentences in my mind and I think to myself, "Well, I might as well get up and write them down."
Lots of love,
Kate
Hi Mel, You know that is really close to where I used to live when I was little and Mum said I saw it. But i don't remember it.
