I'm on a bullet train to Barcelona, we've left Madrid.
My favourite bit about Madrid was the Silver Man and the Reina-Sofia Museum. I didn't like the Prado Museum. I didn't write about the Prado Museum, because all I did was try to get to sleep.
Yesterday we went to see a flamenco show in Madrid. I didn't like the flamenco show, it was too loud.
We also went to a beach on top of a motorway. It was next to the river. We also played on some slides there.
I really enjoyed Madrid. Now I'm almost at Barcelona!

What a lot of interesting parts to that posting! I'm glad you did see the real flamenco dancing, not just a CD of it, as that was one of the things you wanted to do. In the end it was a bit of a disappointment; somehow I thought it might be done outside, in which case it wouldn't have been so noisy.
ReplyDeleteLoved the pic of the two of you on the slides. I know how much Jas would have loved that.
It's really hard to visualise a motorway underneath a beach! But I'm glad they didn't ruin the beach to put the motorway through.
You look like a very seasoned traveller, Mel, with your pack and your cheerful smile, about to get on the bullet train and then you managed to do your writing on board. Wow! You definitely are a seasoned traveller.
Lots of love,
Kate
Cool loking slides Mel - that would have been fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that you didn't like the Prado - perhaps you tried to see too much? Sometimes I find that it's better to just look at a few artworks, then stop for a while - otherwise it's too much. But there are some very spectacular artworks there!
I remember how incredibly fast, yet very smooth and quiet the bullet trains were. We went the other way from you - from Barcelona to Madrid.
We watched YouTube videos of flamenco dancing at school this morning, after reading your posting - so Room Two is experiencing a little bit of Spanish culture too!
(Mind you, Kiwi culture is going strong too - we are busy making masks for the mask parade this Friday evening, and of course New Zealand is in the thick of World Cup rugby right now!
